Norbert A. Roughton verschied am Samstag, den 14. Januar 2017 im Alter von 79 Jahren. Roughton (B.S., M.S., John Carroll University; Dissertation Saint Louis University) war Professor emeritus für Physik und Direktor des Instituts für Physik an der Regis University in Denver, CO. An der Regis University lehrte er Physik, Astronomie, Wissenschaftsgeschichte und Informatik. Zu seinen frühen Forschungsinteressen zählten die experimentelle nukleare Astrophysik; seit den 1980ern galt sein Fokus den babylonischen astronomischen Texten. Er war ein regelmäßiger Teilnehmer an den Regensburger Workshops  zur babylonischen Astronomie.
