Vom Seelengefährt zum Glorienleib

Das Konzept des Seelengefährts, das bereits von Platon und zuvor von Parmenides konzipiert wurde, ist für die philosophische Selbstverständigung von der Antike bis in die frühe Au lärung und darüber hinaus die moderne Esoterik von zentraler Bedeutung.

Sein veranschaulichendes Potenzial reicht von der Erkundung der Möglichkeiten der Kommunikation zwischen eigentlich klar voneinander geschiedenen ontologischen Räumen – dem des Unsto ich-Göttlichen einerseits und dem des Sto ich-Irdischen bzw. menschlich Seelischen andererseits – bis hin zu natur philosophischen Entwürfen zur Erklärung des Phänomens der Elektrizität. Immer wieder wurde es von so unterschiedlichen Denkern wie z. B. Plutarch, Bernardus Silvestris, Kepler, Suarez oder Christian Wolf herangezogen, um das Problem der Einwirkung des Intelligiblen und Göttlichen auf die menschliche Seele oder die irdische Natur zu erklären. Es motivierte Dichter wie Traherne oder Donne zu literarischen Inszenierungen sympathetisch-aitherischer Leiblichkeit und deren eschatologischen Implikationen. Diesem zentralen und spannungsvollen Themenspektrum in seiner historischen wie thematischen Kontinuität nähern sich die Autor*innen dieses Bandes aus interdisziplinär verschränkter Perspektive, die zudem eine innovative, künstlerische Auseinandersetzung mit den verschiedenen Aspekten des Licht(-leib)es umfasst.

The concept of the vehicle for the soul , which has already been conceived by Plato and previously Parmenides, is intended for the philosophical self-understanding of the Antiquity into the early ages and beyond the modern esotericism of central importance.

Its illustrative potential ranges from exploring the possibilities of communication between ontological spaces that are actually clearly separated from each other – that of the unsto ego-divine on the one hand and that of the sto ego-earthly, respectively human spiritual, on the other hand – up to nature philosophical drafts for explanation of phenomenon of electricity. Again and again it was done so by different thinkers e.g. Plutarch, Bernardus Silvestris, Kepler, Suarez or Christian Wolf to explain the problem of the influence of the intelligent and divine on the human soul or earthly nature. It motivated poets such as Traherne and Donne to literary productions of sympathetic-aitheric corporeality and their eschatological implications. This central and exciting spectrum of topics in its historical and thematic continuity the authors of this volume to approach each other from interdisciplinary, intertwined perspective, which in addition an innovative, artistic examination of the the various aspects of the light (body) it encompasses.
